We argue that these analyses are at a threshold of new methods and theoretical insights, offering interpretive possibilities that have not been achievable in the past. In particular, approaches that apply both social network analysis (SNA) and geographic information systems (GIS) to large databases provide new ways for archaeologists to think about and conduct regional analyses.
